The secret is out in the desert! CMC Women off to a 5-0 start!
The Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team is off to a historic start, opening the 2024–25 season with a flawless 5–0 record, the best start in program history. The Fighting Cacti continued their early-season momentum Wednesday night with a commanding 85–34 victory over Compton College.
CMC set the tone immediately, using their trademark aggressive 1-2-2 full-court press to disrupt Compton's rhythm and force turnovers that quickly turned into transition points. The high-energy defensive pressure fueled an offensive surge that put the game out of reach early.
The Fighting Cacti were led by Tatum Stone, who delivered an efficient and composed performance with 17 points, including 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Gia McFadden also provided a steady offensive boost, adding 15 points to help secure the win.
"This group is playing with confidence, effort, and excitement," said the coaching staff. "Their commitment on the defensive end is setting the tone for everything we do."
Copper Mountain will look to extend their unbeaten streak this Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m., when they return home to face LA Harbor College.
