Marines hope to lead the charge for Fighting Cacti Men's Basketball
There has always been a special connection between Copper Mountain College and the Marine Corps. Whether that be the veterans center on campus or the base location aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms. Current Head Coach Walter Parham was the Combat Center School Liaison for 3 years where he helped count less students and families transition into the local school district. This experience created a desire to include these heroes into the athletic program at Copper Mountain. The first domino to fall would be the addition of Coach Bradberry. Coach Bradberry served 21 years in the Marine Corps and recently retired. During his time he coached in the MBA ( Marine Basketball Association) where he was able to find young men of great talent, character and integrity. To his credit, Coach Bradberry has been instrumental in recruiting his brothers from the Corps. This upcoming season there will be 8 millitary connected players affilated with Copper Mountain Men's Basketball. Of those eight, 3 served in the Marines. Freshman Point Guard Aj Gullens, Freshman Forward Antonio "Rev" Reviere and returning Sophomore Honorable Mention All Conference Forward Nathan Kennedy should make a huge impact. The first opportunity to see this impact will be at the Southern California Fall Showcase which will feature 64 of the 100 Men's Basketball programs in the state. The showcase is scheduled for September 16-18 at Cerritos and Rio Hondo College, game dates and times to be determined. Semper Fi and Fight on Cacti!
